The Substitute

My son, Jordan, who is 10 years old asked me the following question on Wednesday "Why are all of the mean substitute teachers named Helga?". I was not aware that there was a large population of women in Chattanooga named Helga. Also, I was not aware that they were all substitute teachers. I guess you learn something new every day.

Awaiting the birth of Kid Stone

My poor husband is going through a terrible time trying to pass a 3mm kidney stone that was found on Sunday at the emergency room. Everyone says that kidney stones are the closest thing to childbirth pain that a man can feel. I think that is an unfair statement. Women usually don't go through days of awful pain without hardly any relief without anything much to show for it. Also, if we women choose, we can have an epidural to get rid of the pain. Then, we get the most wonderful prize at the end of our suffering, a baby. All my husband will get is a tiny little object that will not bring any joy - only the joy of no more pain.

Hopefully, he will be getting relief soon. I hope that I never have to experience what he is going through.

Blessings and a Big Challenge!

I wish that I could have posted yesterday, but we are still getting the router set up and the modem was in my daughter's room and she needed to go to bed. So, tonight I moved the modem into the kitchen and here we are!

My youngest son, Justin, is turning 6 tomorrow and I am sending miniature store-bought cupcakes for his kindergarten class. Also, I am sending napkins and some individually wrapped candy. His classmates should enjoy it-his teacher will get the added benefit/effects of the sugar high that they will all be on.

My husband and I washed up the dishes from dinner. He usually helps me with the dishes, I wash and he rinses. He is a huge help around the house-such a blessing!

After speaking with some dear friends/coworkers today, I was challenged to make some changes: 1. I am going to have more fun with my kids! 2. I am going to go on walks and make time to talk with my children individually. 3. I am going to get their assistance in cooking, cleaning, etc. and not be so worried about messes. These are things that I should already be doing, but they get pushed aside due to my being tired and being too busy to do them. Pure selfishness! My children are very important to me and need to know that by my actions, not just by my words.

I'm Not a Computer Nerd

Oh, I wish that I was a computer nerd. I could set up the computer just the way I want it and it would work! I hate having to rely on someone else to fix things for me. Thank goodness, my brother knows how to set up modems, routers, etc. He's not a nerd, though.

Before he could help set it up, we had to call the phone company. What a nightmare! We got disconnected several times. He had to yell all of his responses. Don't you just love voice recognition!

I'm So Excited!

I have been waiting for several months to start my own blog. I just got a computer and am learning the blogger ropes. I'm looking forward to sharing what the Hill's are up to.
